What is Rewind Therapy?
Rewind Therapy was specifically created for people who have experienced trauma and may be experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or experiencing symptoms of PTSD.
Established since 1991, 90%* of people who have been treated with Rewind Therapy said it really helped them.
Rewind Therapy works on a neurological basis by helping the brain put the pain from trauma into a ‘filing cabinet’ instead of having the paper out in front of you all of the time. This does not mean you can’t read the paper if and when you want to, but you will be in control of your thoughts rather than the memories controlling you.
How is Rewind Therapy different from Counselling?
Rewind Therapy is different from any other imaginal exposure therapy because no details are disclosed to the therapist. The treatment is known as ‘closure without disclosure’ which means I do not need you to retell your story for me to treat you.
Could Rewind Therapy help you?
If you have experienced any of the following, Rewind Therapy could be the right treatment for you:-
- You have physically survived your trauma, but your mind keeps taking you back.
- You may be experiencing flashbacks, bad dreams, increased anxiety, feeling panicked, angry or just feeling more emotional than usual.
These are just a few common symptoms we may experience after trauma.
Your trauma can be recent or in your past. If your experience is causing you distress, Rewind Therapy can help.
What are the benefits of non-disclosure in Rewind Therapy?
- Minimises the risk of being traumatised again.
- There is no fear of disclosing sensitive or confidential information eg in the cases of armed forces servicemen and women.
- Not having to disclose details of the event to a stranger, in particular for survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
How many sessions will I need?
FOR SINGLE EVENT TRAUMAS
Two to three sessions at most are required.

This would include but is not limited to those who have experienced recurrent abuse, servicemen and women who have served in combat, those who work or have worked for the emergency services.
